BMG has acquired the music publishing interests of Luca Anzilotti, who co-founded the German Eurodance act Snap!, in a deal announced on June 4, 2026. The purchase price was not disclosed. Anzilotti was advised on the transaction by Karsten Dropmann of the law firm Kiso Siefert Dropmann.
What changes hands
The deal covers Anzilotti's publishing interests in the Snap! songbook. It is the third piece of a longer consolidation effort by BMG: the company bought the group's recorded music catalog in 2018, and in August 2023 it acquired the writer's share royalties of Anzilotti's Snap! partner Michael Münzing. With this deal, BMG now holds a much larger portion of both the recordings and the compositions.
The catalog
Snap! was formed in Frankfurt in 1989 by Anzilotti and Münzing, and mixed hip-hop with club music at the start of the Eurodance era.
- The Power (1990): the breakthrough single, from the debut album World Power, which reached No. 1 in several countries and earned Gold and Platinum awards.
- Rhythm Is a Dancer (1992): a No. 1 in the UK, Germany, France, Ireland, Italy and the Netherlands, No. 5 on the US Billboard Hot 100, and Platinum in Germany and the UK.
- Ooops Up (1990) and Welcome to Tomorrow (1994): further chart hits.
The catalog had passed 1.4 billion cumulative streams by 2023 and still draws more than 7.5 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
Why it matters
BMG frames the deal as a way to create more synergy between recorded and publishing rights, which it says helps to maximize global income and opens new sync opportunities. Owning both sides of a song simplifies licensing: a brand, film or game only needs to clear the track with one party. This is a pattern BMG has repeated with 1990s and 1980s acts, including its purchase of Haddaway's music interests in 2022 and of A Flock of Seagulls' publishing and recording catalog in March 2026.
For rightsholders, the lesson is that a buyer who already owns part of a catalog is often the most motivated bidder for the remaining pieces. Co-writers and band members whose partners have already sold may find that the existing owner values their share more highly than a newcomer would, because it completes a single controllable asset.
