Avex Music Group acquires publishing catalog of Lose Control co-writer Infamous

Avex Music Group has bought the publishing catalog of Infamous (Marco Rodriguez), co-writer and co-producer of Teddy Swims' No. 1 hit Lose Control. Terms were not disclosed.

Avex Music Group (AMG), the global music division of Tokyo-listed Avex, has acquired the publishing catalog of producer and songwriter Infamous (Marco Rodriguez), announced on April 27, 2026. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

What changes hands

AMG is buying Infamous's music publishing catalog, meaning his songwriter share of the compositions he has co-written. The announcement did not give a percentage or say whether any future works are included. The transaction is the first deal under a new acquisition program: AMG has committed an initial $100 million, financed by City National Bank, to buy publishing catalogs, publishing companies and culturally significant copyrights over the next 12 months, across North America, Asia and other key markets.

The catalog

  • Lose Control (Teddy Swims): Infamous co-wrote and co-produced the song, which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and went multi-platinum. It is the centerpiece of the catalog.
  • Work with Lil Wayne: part of his credits in hip-hop.
  • Work with Charlie Puth: part of his credits in pop.

Why it matters

AMG is positioning itself as a new, well-funded bidder for contemporary publishing rights. The $100 million commitment is described as a first phase, and the team leading acquisitions includes CEO Brandon Silverstein, CFO Ryusuke Kamada and Spencer LeBoff, head of publishing and acquisitions. The group has also signed a global publishing administration agreement with Bruno Mars for his newly written songs, and in February 2026 struck a distribution deal with The Orchard outside Japan, China and Korea.

For songwriters and producers with a recent breakout hit, this deal is a useful signal. Buyers are not only chasing decades-old standards: a single modern No. 1 with strong streaming and a multi-platinum track record can anchor a catalog sale on its own. More capital entering the market, especially from buyers with Asian distribution reach, adds competition for these assets, which generally supports sellers when they run a process.
