Warner Music Finland acquires Mökkitie Records catalog and publishing rights

Warner Music Finland has bought the recorded catalog and publishing rights of Mökkitie Records, the label founded by Arttu Wiskari, who also signs a new multi-year deal.

Warner Music Finland has acquired the recorded music catalog and the associated publishing rights of Mökkitie Records, the independent Finnish label founded by singer-songwriter Arttu Wiskari. The definitive agreement was announced on July 3, 2026. Financial terms were not disclosed.

What changes hands

Warner takes over both sides of the Mökkitie business: the master recordings and the publishing rights attached to them. The deal goes beyond a pure catalog purchase. Wiskari has signed a new multi-year artist deal with Warner Music Finland, and the label's artists, founders and staff move into the Warner network. Mökkitie managing director Olli Saksa joins the Warner Music Finland A&R team, songwriter Janne Rintala continues working with its songwriting teams, and Mika Laakkonen is set to lead a new label, Katutaso, distributed by Warner.

The catalog

  • Mökkitie and Tuntematon potilas: the Wiskari singles whose success led him to launch the label in 2012.
  • Suomen muotoisen pilven alla: Wiskari album that reached No. 1 on the official Finnish albums chart in 2020.
  • Ich komme: Erika Vikman's Eurovision 2025 entry for Finland, which finished 11th with 196 points.
  • Ruoska: Vikman's 2024 duet with Käärijä, with more than 23 million Spotify streams.
  • Pohjola: Olli Halonen single that topped both Spotify Finland and the official singles chart in 2022, and won Iskelmä of the Year at the 2023 Emma Gaala.

The roster also includes Mira Luoti, co-frontwoman of pop-rock band PMMP.

Why it matters

This is the latest in a series of domestic moves by Warner Music Finland, which bought the Skorpioni Records catalog and The Fried Music in 2023 and launched Atlantic Records Finland in May 2026. Majors are increasingly buying local independent labels outright, pairing the catalog with the team and the artists who built it, to strengthen their position in smaller markets where local-language repertoire dominates streaming.

For founders of independent labels, the structure is worth noting: selling masters and publishing together, while securing a new recording deal for the founding artist and roles for key staff, can turn a catalog sale into a continuation of the business rather than an exit. Catalogs with recent chart hits and a Eurovision profile give the buyer both back catalog income and front-line momentum.
