Reservoir's PopIndia acquires Vincey Productions catalog and YouTube channels

PopIndia has bought the compositions and masters of Chennai's Vincey Productions, a South Indian devotional catalog whose YouTube channels have over 10 million subscribers.

PopIndia, the Mumbai-based subsidiary of Reservoir Media, has acquired the catalog of Chennai label Vincey Productions, announced on August 28, 2026. Financial terms were not disclosed.

What changes hands

PopIndia is taking all of the compositions and master recordings owned by Vincey Productions, together with the company's YouTube channels, which have more than 10 million subscribers combined. Vincey Productions was founded in 1995 by Vincent Raj and is based in Chennai. On the same day, PopIndia also announced a separate publishing deal with Kashmiri hip-hop producer 30KEY!, which is not part of this acquisition.

The catalog

  • Tamil and Telugu repertoire: more than 30 years of South Indian music across both languages.
  • Christian and devotional recordings: the core of the catalog.
  • Children's music: an additional strand of the label's output.
  • YouTube channels: owned audiences totaling more than 10 million subscribers.

Why it matters

The deal shows how buyers are pricing in owned distribution, not just rights. A catalog that comes with its own YouTube audience gives the new owner a direct channel to fans and ongoing ad revenue. PopIndia followed a similar pattern in May 2025, when it bought the Musicraft Entertainment catalog of more than 1,000 recordings along with YouTube channels of over 3 million subscribers. The unit, led by Spek, says it wants to broaden its presence across India's regional music markets.

For rightsholders in niche or regional repertoire, the lesson is that genre focus is not a barrier to a sale. Devotional and children's music can be steady, long-lived earners, and international buyers are actively looking for them in fast-growing markets. India's recorded music market was worth roughly $367 million in 2025, and Reservoir reported $41.5 million in revenue for its fiscal first quarter of 2027, up 12% year on year.
