Primary Wave Music has struck a partnership with Intocable, the Grammy-winning Norteño-Tejano group from Zapata, Texas, announced on June 1, 2026. The deal covers the band's music catalog as well as its name, image and likeness (NIL). Financial terms were not disclosed, and the announcement does not state what percentage of the rights Primary Wave holds.
What changes hands
The partnership spans Intocable's master recordings and publishing catalog, plus NIL rights. In return, the band gains access to Primary Wave's marketing team and publishing infrastructure, including digital strategy, licensing and sync, and support for film and TV projects. Primary Wave describes the aim as long-term global growth for the group.
The catalog
Intocable formed in the early 1990s and has released more than 20 studio, live and compilation albums, with over 4 million albums sold.
- Intimamente: winner of the 2005 Grammy for Best Mexican-American/Tejano Music Performance.
- Classic: winner of the 2011 Grammy for Best Norteño Album.
- Fuerte No Soy, Me Gusta Mi Vida, Sueña and Te Amo (Para Siempre): among the band's signature hits.
- Si Me Duele, Que Duela and Un Poquito Tuyo: further radio hits.
The group has two Grammys, three Latin Grammys, 15 No. 1 albums on Billboard's Regional Mexican Albums chart and 21 No. 1 hits on the Regional Mexican Airplay chart, tied for second place all-time. A Hollywood Walk of Fame star is expected in 2026.
Why it matters
Primary Wave has been one of the most active buyers of 2026. In recent months it struck a partnership with Pete Townshend (reportedly worth more than $100M), signed deals with the estates of Harry Chapin and Eartha Kitt, closed its fourth music fund at $2.225 billion and agreed to acquire Kobalt.
The Intocable deal shows how the catalog-plus-NIL structure is spreading beyond legacy estates to active touring acts, and into Regional Mexican music. For rightsholders, a partnership can be a way to access a larger company's marketing and sync machine without a simple outright sale, while the NIL component adds value from the band's brand as well as its songs.
